Close Race between Texting and Morse in Historic Combat

It took 7 rounds to clarify who communicate most rapidly: young quick-fingered texters or hardened telegraph operators?

The great combat took place at Post & Tele Museum on Tuesday the 10th of February 2009. The five quickest texters were picked out in a qualification round. Only the quickest - and faultless - messages qualified for the competition against the telegraph operators.

It was a close race in the final combat. In the first three rounds the texters proved to be far the quickest. Whether this was due to nerves or technical challenges with the telegraph oper-ators is hard to say, but at any rate the texters were fought alll the way during the last three rounds and after six rounds the score was 4-2 to the texters.

In order to give equal terms to the two teams of contestors, a final combat was arranged between the quickest texter Malthe Gørtz Rosdahl and the telegraph operators Ingemann Ganderup and Jørgen Lund-Ertel, and here text messaging had to prostrate itself to the more than 150 years old Morse signal.
